Borox® is a Swedish family-owned company with strong traditions in the Swedish steel industry and the well known business spirit of Småland, through the acquisition of Enerydaverken. The company is 100% owned by the Svanborg family. Below we have listed some historical events that have been significant for the company's development and expansion.
1920
Enerydaverken was founded in Eneryda, Småland and was from the start a small forge. The main business was stone cranes, repairs for farmers and blacksmithing.
1929
Ernst Petersson took over the forge and they soon began to produce grader blades for the Swedish Road Fund, among others. They experimented successfully with the heat treatment of the steel to get the right hardness and the best product.
The name of the company became Enerydaverken.

1935
The first furnace was purchased and bricked directly on site. During the Second World War it was powered by producer gas.
1955
The company became a limited company. The premises had now been expanded considerably, the factory area was now about 500 square meters.
A few years later, it was time for another extension of about 800 square meters, including a new furnace building.
1979
A fully automatic furnace heated by LPG was purchased.
6000 square meters of industrial land have now been purchased and a large warehouse has been built next to the existing factory.
The biggest customers were the Swedish Road Administration, Bofors and Kohlswa.
1990
The company was bought by Jan-Olof Svanborg and Jan-Erik Edgarsson who owned Borox International AB. Borox was founded six years earlier, in 1984.
Jan-Olof Svanborg previously worked as Sales Manager at SSAB in Oxelösund and through his work he had come into contact with Enerydaverken AB, who was one of SSAB´s customers.
At the same time, Enerydaverken was undergoing changes due to a generational change within the owner family and the timing seemed to be right.
2000
Expansion continues and exports have now increased to 65% of the turnover. Most exports go to Europe, but also Brazil, Canada, the USA and South Africa. Our cooperation with Volvo has now been going on for a few years.
We have also opened a steel cutting facility in Oxelösund (next to SSAB), where the head office is located.
We are now certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001.
2007
This year, we signed a Preferred Supplier Agreement with Volvo, an egreement that is still valid and renewed and evaluated continously.
The following year, we set up our own sales company in South Africa to serve the African market. The business and warehouse is located in Johannesburg.
2018
A completely new warehouse is being built in Eneryda and together with the existing warehouse they now make up a total area of 5,400 square meters. The halls are equipped with mobile pallet rackings and light barriers for increased safety.
All forklifts are also being replaced by electric forklifts.
2023
Our new and modern office is ready in Eneryda. The office is heated with the residual heat from the furnaces.
Solar panels are installed on our factory area of 4450 sqm in Eneryda. This will generate about 800 000 kwh of electricity per year, which is half of our annual electricity consumption.
